TESTS ON LUMINOUS COMPOUNDS ACTIVATED WITH PROMETHIUM 147 (in German)

Journal Article · · Kerntechnik (West Germany) Merged with Atomkernenergie to form Atomkernenerg./Kerntech.kyu Hokoku
OSTI ID:4714546

Luminous compounds activated with Pm/sup 147/ are commercially available. The reasons why Pm/sup 147/ was given preference are outlined. The activity, the natural decrease in luminosity, the luminous capacity in powder form and applied to surfaces (coated objects), and the dependence on the crystal size of the phosphor are described. Radiation intensity and absence of radioactive contamination in such colors play an important part when daily employed; therefore the characteristics were determined and checked by measurements. The danger of radiation from use of Pm/sup 147/activated luminous paint was estimated. (auth)
