OBSERVATIONS ON PACKAGED Pm$sup 147$-ACTIVATED PHOSPHOR LIGHT SOURCES

Journal Article · · Intern. J. Appl. Radiation and Isotopes
Self-luminous phosphor sources activated with Pm/sup 147/ have given brightness levels superior to those attained with any other radioisotope. Unfortunately, the brightness decreased faster than the natural decay rate of the isotope due to radiation damage to the phosphor or container materials. Details of the construction and methods of testing of these sources are presented, and the decay problem is illustrated with experimental data. (auth)
