A CLOSED-CYCLE CASCADE HELIUM REFRIGERATOR

Journal Article · · Advan. Cryog. Eng.

A closed-cycle cascade helium refrigerator developed for supplying a minimum of 750 mw of useful refrigeration at 4.4 deg K is described. The system, which utilizes the JouleThomson cooling effect to obtain low temperatures, is selfcontained and simple to operate. It is suitable for providing reliable, low- temperature refrigeration for extended periods of time for those applications in which refrigerator size and weight are not restrictive. (C.E.S.)
