The phagocytic activity of leukocytes was studied in guinea pigs with different degrees of radiation sickness. Data are presented on the relation between morphological composition of the peripheral blood and phagocytic activity. Results indicate that changes in leukocyte count most clearly reflect the severity of radiation injury but changes in the phagocytic activity of the leukocytes is the earliest sign of radiation injury.
