PRODUCTION AND INVESTIGATION OF NEGATIVE FISSION PRODUCT IONS (in German)

Cl/sup 38m/ was produced by neutron activation of chlorinecontaining samples in a pneumatic irradiation facility. The decay of the Cl/sup 38/ isomer was investigated by various scintillation spectrometer technics. The half life and the internal conversion coefficient alpha of the 0.68 Mev isomeric transition was found to be T/sub 1/2/ = 0.74 plus or minus 0.03 sec and alpha = (5.0 plus or minus 1.2)x 10/sup -4/. These data suggest a M-3 transition between an isomeric state and the spin I = 5/sup -/ and the ground state of Cl-38 (I = 2/sup -/). (auth)
