Co/sup 60m/ was produced by the reaction Co/sup 59/(n, gamma )Co/sup 60m/ . Its decay was investigated by scintillation spectrometers. The half life was remeasured yielding a value of T/sub 1/2 = (10.35 plus or minus 0.20) min. The isomeric decay mainly led to the Co/sup 60/ ground state by a (58.6 plus or minus 0.6) kev transition. The Kconversion coefficient alpha /sub K/ = 41 plus or minus 3 and the total conversion coefficient alpha =47 plus or minus 3 indicated the transition to be M3 and the spin of Co/sup 60m/ to be 21. Co/sup 60m/ also decays by beta transitions to Ni/sup 60/. The beta component (8.6 plus or minus 1.2) x 10/sup -3/%, log ft = 7.32 leading to a (2.16 plus or minus 0.02) Mev level was measured for the first time. A second component (0.24 plus or minus 0.03)%, log ft = 7.23 led to the 1.33 Mev level. The 2.16-Mev level decayed to the Ni/sup 60/ ground state mainly by a 0.83--1.33 cascade, in a few cases by a direct transition. The spin of the 2.16 Mev level is 2/sup +/. Zr/sup 90m/ was produced by the reaction Zr/sup 90/(n,n,)Zr/sup 90m/. The half life was measured yielding a value of T/sub 1/2/, = (0.83 plus or minus 0.03) sec. Zr/sup 90m/ decayed in the following way: (77 plus or minus 5)% by a direct (2.31 plus or minus 0.02) Mev- E5 transition to the Zr ground state and (23 plus or minus 5)% by a (132.5 plus or minus 1.5) kev - (2.18 plus or minus 0.03) Mev cascade detected for the first time in the isomeric decay. The K- conversion coefficient of the 132.5 kev transition was alpha /sub K/ = (2.2 plus or minus 0.3) indicating this transition to be E3 and the spin of the 2.18- Mev level to be 2/sup +/. The Zr/sup 90m/ decay scheme is in accordance with the level sequence of Zr/sup 90/ as measured in the Nb/sup 90/ decay. (auth)
