SOME EXTENSIONS OF THE BORN APPROXIMATION FOR PHASE SHIFTS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4709256
A new approximation for phase shifts is derived using a method radically different from the usual Green's function techniques. It turns out to be a cross between the Born and WKB approximations and provides a powerful tool for investigating the behavior of the Born formula. In particular, the latter is shown to be valid for weak, long range potentials regardless of the phase shift magnitude. Several numerical examples are included. (auth)
