ON THE USE OF THE BORN APPROXIMATION FOR SMALL PHASE-SHIFTS AT LOW ENERGIES

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The validity of the Born approximation for small phase shift s at low energies is discussed. It is shown to be a poor approximation for two-body collisions and most manybody collisions, but works well in the latter case if the potential term in the wave equation is much smaller than the exchange kernel terms.
