Activities in a program to obtain thermodynamic, physical, and heat transfer data on biphenyl are reported. Experimental methods for determining fundamental data on isomeric terphenyls and other selected coolants were also investigated. Biphenyl PVT measurements were completed to 525 deg C. Tentative values were determined. Expressions for biphenyl vapor viscosity and thermal conductivity in the low-pressure region were derived. Physical property studies were continued on the isomeric terphenyls, and purification of ortho- and meta- terphenyls via fractional crystallization is in progress. (J.R.D.)
