Biphenyl heat capacity measurements were completed, and the results analyzed with respect to the values derived from PVT data. The inconsistencies between the two sets of data were chiefly due to biphenyl vapor density values at iow temperatures. Additional vapor density data were obtained, and a new biphenyl thermodynamic network calculation is in progress. Far infrared absorption measurements were made on biphenyl to verify the presence of the calculated but previously unobserved 120 and 140 cm/sup -1/ bands which were included in the zero pressure heat capacity values used in previous thermodynamic calculations. The only band observed was at 117 cm/sup -1/ which would not appreciably change the previously used zero pressure heat capacity values. Liquid heat capacity from 60 to 400 deg C and PVT measurements were made on ortho- terphenyl. Heat content of meta-terphenyl from 90 to 250 deg C was measured. Heat transfer runs (95) were made with biphenyl during this quarter over 500 to 815 deg F under four different circulation conditions. Analysis of the data is underway and will be reported in a topical report. No further experiment heat transfer work is planned. (auth)
