NUMERICAL METHODS AND TECHNIQUES USED IN THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL NEUTRON- DIFFUSION PROGRAM PDQ-5
A description is given of the mathematical theory and methods used in the PDQ-5 program to obtain the numerical solution to the few-group, time- independent, neutron diffusion equations in two dimensions. The finite difference approximations of the continuous problem for both x-y and r-z geometries and the properties of the resulting matrix problem are given. The mathematical features and the practical applications of the numerical methods used to solve the matrix problem are discussed in detail. 24 references. (auth)
