A study was made of Pa extraction with a 0.5 M solution of TTA in benzene from HCl, HNO/sub 3/, and H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solutions. It was found that Pa can be purified from Fe, Zr, Nb, U, Th, rare earths, and radioactive impurities of Bi, Po, and Th by Pa extraction from a solution 6 N in respect to HCl and 0.2 M in respect to H/sub 2/C/sub 2/O/sub 4/ and by its back extraction into the aqueous phase with a 0.25 M solution of oxalic acid. The effect of a number of elements on the extractionphotometric determination of Pa with TTA was also studied. It was established that large amounts of Fe/sup 2+/, Zr, Nb, Mn/ sup 2+/, Al, U/sup VI/, Th, and other elements do not interfere with Pa determination. (auth)
