Data are presented from studies on the effects of wholebody x irradiation on the phospholipid content of liver mitochondria in rats. Results of preliminary studies on the in vivo incorporation of P/sup 32/ into mitochondrial phospholipids showed that the irradiation increased P/sup 32/ incorporation proportional with the increase in lipid P. A mitochondrial lipoprotein fraction containing over 80% of nitrogen-free polyglycerol phosphatides was isolated. The relation of mitochondrial lipids to associated enzymes of the electron transfer system is discussed. (C.H.)
