EFFECT OF AET ON CELLULES OF THE SPERMATOGENIC LINE OF MICE IRRADIATED LOCALLY ON THE TESTICLES (in French)
Male hybrids were divided into three groups: the controls, the group receiving 342 r, and the group receiving 5472 r. Half of each irradiated group had an intraperitoneal injection of AET 10 minutes before irradiation. The testicle lesions were estimated by calculating the percentage of seminal tubes lacking one of the stages of the spermatogenic line: spermatogones, spermatocytes, spermatids, or spermatozoids. The results show that the radiosensitivity decreases with the degree of differentiation. The extent of the lesions caused by x radiation and the time before regeneration can be observed is a function of the dose. Along with the disappearance of the cellules of the spermatogenic line, the testicles decrease in weight. Injection of AET before irradiation has a protective effect, slowing a speeded disappearance of the germinal cellules and accelerated restoration of the seminal epithelium. (J.S.R.)
