A METHOD FOR SUPPRESSING PHOTOMULTIPLIER NOISE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4702165
The noise suppressor system described is designed to take advantage of the difference in pulse length of slow decay time scintillators such as CsI(Tl) and NaI(Tl) and the photomultiplier noise. This technique is similar to the pulse shape discrimination system used to distinguish particle types detected by fast scintillators. The scheme used has the advantage of simplicity and of employing mostly standard electronic components. (N.W.R.)
