A D-D gas target is described by which the associated He/sup 3/ particles below 90 deg compared with the incident deuteron direction can be detected by a CsI(Tl) scintillation counter. The He/sup 3/ impulse can be discriminated from the disturbance impulses from various sources. (tr-auth)
