SCINTILLATION COUNTER

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4699129
A scintillation counter is patented, in which a new type of optical cement is used to couple the scintillator to the photomultiplier tube. The cement forms a strong permanent bond with good light-transmitting properties. It is water soluble, so that the scintillator and tube can be separated intact. The cement is an epoxy resin, the polyepoxide of glycerol and epichlorohydrin, which is mixed with a diamine hardener at the time of use. The composition and properties of the cement and its use in scintillation counters are described. (M.P.G.)
