SCINTILLATION COUNTER

A scintillation counter assembly that consists of a scintillator crystal and a photomultiplier tube with the window of the tube optically coupled to the crystal is described. The scintillation crystal is nearly entirely covered with a reflecting material with only that part of the crystal face being excepted that is in contact with the window of the tube. The reflective coating also covers that part of the tube that is next to the crystal including the rim of the window. (Gmelin Inst.)
