Two methods for solving the particle-nucleus elastic scattering problem are compared. Numerical results of the Schroedinger equation are compared with an approximate method valid at high energies, which is the semiclassical approximation. The Coulomb potential due to a homogeneously charged sphere was used. The calculations were made for incident nucleon energies of 20, 40, 90, and 180 Mev. Comparisons were made between the elastic differential cross section and nucleon polarizations derived by both methods. The nucleus was assumed to be spherical and to have nuclear spin zero. (C.E.S.)
