The electric quadrupole moment of the 14.4-keV level of Fe57 (in German)

The temperature dependence of electric field gradients in iron fluosilicates was calculated when the spin-orbit coupling of the 3d electrons was considered. The intensity of the trigonal crystal field components, which are determined by the temperature behavior of the field gradients, were suited to the magnetic propenties of the crystal. Variations from earlier works were obtained. The quadrupole moment of the 14.4-kev level of Fe57 was calculated to be +0.15 plus or minus 0.01 b. This value must still be corrected with reference to the internal Sternheimer effect.
