A NEW EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR THE SEPARATION AND PURIFICATION OF PROTACTINIUM FOR ITS FOLLOWING RADIOMETRIC DETERMINATION (in Russian)

A new method for the separation of Pa from U ores and waste products after their treatment was developed and is based on Pa extraction from sulfuric acid solutions with isoamyl alcohol in the presence of arsenazo III. Protactinium is completely separated from macroamounts of Fe, 0/, and Ac/sup 223/ in a single cycle of purification. The method is simple and rapid. It ensures a good yieid of Pa and permits its determination in natural samples by a radiometric method with the experimental error of 3 to 5%. (auth)
