Tritium Labeling on a Nickel Catalyst

In an attempt to find a general catalytic method of labeling, utilizing tritium gas, exchange reactions between tritium gas and cyclohexane, cyclohexene, benzene, toluene, and acetone on nickel catalysts were studied. Using this method hydrocarbons were labeled to a high level of activitv with less than 0.1% of this activity in damage products. This was in contrast to the Wilzbach method where some 70% of the activity is typically found in impurities produced during the exposure. (M.C.G.)
