EVALUATION OF THE PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CYSTEAMINE

Journal Article · · Magyar Radiologia (Hungary)
OSTI ID:4694127
After intraperitoneal injection of cysteamine, survival time of mice was measured after irradiation with 650 r doses. Under similar conditions, liver degeneration of partially hepatectomized rats was studied after 500 r radiation. Also, granulocytosis produced after the injection of a starch solution in rabbits irradiated with 400 r was tested with and without cysteamine. Survival time increased and liver damage decreased if cysteamine was administered before irradiation, the functional insufficiency of the bone marrow of rabbits, however, showed no lessening with cysteamine.
