BOILING LIQUID REACTOR WITH INCORPORATED STEAM SEPARATING AND SUPERHEATING INSTALLATION

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4693997
A boiling liquid reactor design comprises a series of parallelly arranged fuel element assemblies, each of them comprising two fluid flow paths. One of the paths is in heat exchanging relationship with one portion of the fuel element surface, the second one with another portion of the latter. The boiling liquid leaving the first flow path enters into a steam separating device from where the separated steam enters into the second flow path in order to become superheated. Preferably the fuel assemblies comprise parallel fuel tubes extending over its whole length. The space between the tubes forms the first flow path, while the whole of the central channels within the tubes forms the second flow path. The flow in the first path goes from the bottom to the top of the assembly, while the flow in the second, the superheating path, goes in the opposite direction. (IIB)
