ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION-BUREAU OF MINES PROCESS HEAT REACTOR PROGRAM. Quarterly Progress Report, May 1-July 31, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4693662
The construction of a 250-psig pilot scale He recycle loop is reviewed. The He is the coolant for an electrically Induction-Heated Simulated Nuclear Reactor (ISR), The He temperature at the inlet of the compressor turbine is 1400 to 1600 deg F. The heat-transfer characteristics and reactorcoolant suitability of He-graphite suspensions are studied. The effects of entrained coal dust and micronized graphite in N/sub 2/ on the compression characteristics of the N/sub 2/ are studied. An electric precipitator for removal of dust from gases is described. (T.F.H.)
