PROCESS HEAT REACTOR PROGRAM. Quarterly Progress Report, August 1 to October 31, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4623049
ABS>The development of an electrically Induction-Heated Simulated Nuclear Reactor (ISR) is described. The reactor to be produced from the ISR is to use He above 1000 deg F to heat steam, and the steam is then to be used to gasify coal. The heat transfer characteristics and reactor-coolant suitability of He-graphite suspensions are studied. The effects of entrained micronized graphite in N/sub 2/ on the compression characteristics of the N/sub 2/ are evaluated. (T.F.H.)
