ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS (GENERAL METALS) OF URANIUM ORES AND CONCENTRATES BY THE CARRIER-DISTILLATION METHOD

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4691722
The ore or concentrate after ignition is diluted with spectrographically pure U/sub 3/O/sub 8/ and mixed with 5% by weight of AgCl carrier. The mixture is placed in a graphite cup that is made the anode for excitation in a d-c arc at 10 to 12 amp. Spectra are recorded photographically using a large quartz spectrograph. The method is suitable for the low-level determination of As, Au, Be, Bi, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ga, Ge, In, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Tl, V, and Pd. Limits of detection and ranges of determination are dependent on the total impurity content of the ore or concentrate. (P.C.H.)
