ELECTROLYTE EFFECTS ON SILVER BROMATE SOLUBILITY IN PROTIUM AND DEUTERIUM OXIDE SOLUTION AT 25. EVIDENCE FOR ASSOCIATION OF SILVER AND NITRATE IONS

The electrolyte effects of HClO/sub 4/, LiClO/sub 4/, and LiNO/sub 9/ on the AgBrO/sub 3/ solubility of H/sub 2/O and D/sub 2/O were studied. It was found that HClO/sub 4/ and LiClO/sub 4/ have small or no eifects, while LiNO/sub 3/ had relatively large effects. Association quotients were calculated for LiBrO/ sub 3/ (0.17 and 0.15 at ionic strengths 0.15 and 0.20) and for AgNO/sub 3/ (varies from 0.82 to 0.55 with ionic strength). (D.L.C.)
