Neutron Flux Measurements in the FRJ-1 (Merlin) at Powers of 40W to 100kW; NEUTRONENFLUSSMESSUNGEN AM FRJ-1 (MERLIN)BEIN LEISTUNGEN VON 40 W- 100 kW

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4684637

In the scope of the second startup phase of the FRJ-1 (MERLIN), the thermal and epithermal flux distributions in the experimental installation of the reactor were measured with the help of an activation probe. At the boundary of the core the fast flux was determined with phosphate glass and sulfur films, and the properties of the films wereinvestigated. It is shown that for use of phosphate glass films, the long-lived portion of the thermal activation must be considered. The sulfur films showed no interfering activity. The fast neutron flux at the boundary of the core was on the order of 10/sup 7/ n cm/sup -2/ sec/ sup -1/ watt/sup -1/. (tr-auth)
