The end closure of tubular sheaths, consisting of sintered oxidized Al, Mg, or Be powder is effected in the following way. A concave cap is either screwed or pressed in the sheath, a concave counter-cap is placed on the composite, both concavities facing each other, and the three parts are welded together at their places of junction. Thereupon the counter cap is mechanically removed. (NPO)
