PURIFICATION OF A REACTOR CIRCUIT FROM CORROSION PRODUCTS

Journal Article · · Korroziya Reaktornykh Materialov, Sb. Statei
OSTI ID:4681941
A solution is recommended for washing the cooling system of a reactor made of Al alloy, which has the composition: CrO/sub 3/ 20 g/l, H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/ 35 ml/l (specif. weight 1.68); temperature approximates 20 deg C; duration of treatment: until corrosion products are completely dissolved. The etching solution is removed from the whole reactor (tank and cooling system) by repeated and careful washing with distilled water. Washing with 8% HNO/sub 3/ solution is not recommended because intercrystalline corrosion might occur in the junction zone. (Referativnyy zhurnal, Khimiya, No. 20, 1961)
