All 14 capsules for the initial set of irradiation experiments are ready for shipment to the test reactor site. Effort is continuing on completion of post-irradiation examination facilities. An additional PuO/sub 2/ preparation run was made via the peroxide route; powder characterization studies of all batch preparations made via this route were completed and indicated that the characteristics are reproducible. Fuel compatibilities with claddings and coolants are being studied. The plasma torch fusion and spheroidization studies using UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ are being continued. Thermogravimetric investigations were initiated to determine the oxidation kinetics of UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ solid solutions. (M.C.G.)
