A reactor fuel element provided with a device to prevent vibration due to the flow of coolant in the fuel channel is patented. The fuel element is of elongate form, and its ends are designed so that a series of fuel elements can be stacked upon one another in a vertical channel. Several radial support members are pivotably mounted on one end of the element. The weight of an element above it causes the support members to extend radially until they contact the walls of the channel, thereby stabilizing the element. The fuel-element design is especially applicable to gascooled reactors. (M.P.G.)
