THERMAL GLOW LUMINESCENCE IN PLASTICALLY DEFORMED KCl CRYSTAL

Journal Article · · J. Phys. Soc. Japan
OSTI ID:4666628
It was found that plastically deformed KCl crystals show simple glow luminescence irrespective of x-ray or excitonlight irradiation. The glow was attributed to the recombination of electrons and holes trapped by single vacancies and vacancy clusters. An intensity of 250 deg C maximum was found to increase as the square of exciton density. From this, the exciton effect in deformed crystal is discussed. (auth)
