THERMAL GLOW LUMINESCENCE IN PLASTICALLY DEFORMED CKl CRYSTAL IRRADIATED BY X-RAY AND ULTRA VIOLET LIGHT
Thermal glow luminescence in plastically deformed KCl crysta1s is studied experimentally. The thermal glow curves become simple and similar irrespective of the origin of crystals, in contrast with the case of as- cleaved'' crystals. In the case of ultraviolet illumination at room temperature, glow curves consist of four peaks, at 80, with deformation. The observed glows are attributed to the interaction of excitons with vacancy clusters. In xrayed crystals, three peaks appear, at 80, 140, and 250 deg C. The peak at 250 deg C is outstanding and is considered to be luminescence resulting from the recombination of F and V/sub 3/ centers. Glows at 80 and 140 deg C are attributed to the recombination of electrons released from N and M centers with trapped holes in V/ sub 2/ centers. The recombination proba bility of 250 deg C glow is enhanced by the perturbed field caused by the plastic deformation. (auth)
