Thermoluminescence in Plastically Deformed KBr

Journal Article · · Physica Status Solidi B. Basic Solid State Physics
The thermoluminescence of plastically deformed KBr crystals was measured in the temperature range 80 to 350 deg K for differing amounts of deformation. It was found that the glow peaks characteristic of undeformed crystals are greatly enhanced but that no new glow peaks appear. The effect of annealing at different temperatures, below x-ray excitation showed that the enhanced emission is not due to direct trapping of carriers by dislocations. The study of changes in the absorption spectra indicated that there is no correlation between coloration and enhanced emission of different deformed samples. (auth)
