The composition of ternary alloys resistant to oxidation at high temperatures and processes for the production of the alloys are patented. Two compositional areas in the ternary alloy system show greatly improved oxidation resistance. The first area includes alloys comprising by weight 75 to 95% W, 4.8 to 24.8% Nb, and 0.2 to 12.5% Ti. The second area includes alloys of 42 to 65% W, 17.5 to 42.5% Nb, and 7.5 to 27.5% Ti. The alloys may be prepared by arc melting the components in powdered form. (M.P.G.)
