MEAN AMPLITUDES OF VIBRATION AND THERMODYNAMIC FUNCTIONS OF TECHNETIUM HEXAFLUORIDE

The inactive fundamental frequency coming under the F/sub 2u/ species of technetium hexafluoride was calculated from values of potential constants obtained with the other five observed fundamental frequencies of the same molecule and found to be 180.2 cm/sup -1/. Numerical values of sixteen mean- square amplitude quantities were computed at the temperatures T = 0 and 298 deg K. The corresponding mean amplitudes of vibration for Tc-F and F and F distances were also reported at these temperatures. Using these observed fundamental frequencies, the molar thermodynamic functions were calculated on the basis of a rigid rotator, harmonic oscillator approximation at a pressure of 1 atm in the temperature range 100-2000 deg K.
