The possibility of forming molecules of alpha , alpha -diphenyl BETA - picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) in alpha , alpha -diphenyl- BETA -picryl hydrazine (DPPH/ sub 2/) by irradiating the latter is discussed. The EPR absorption spectrum of dilute liquid solutions of irradiated DPPH/sub 2/ exhibited a very close similarity with the EPR absorption in dilute liquid solutions of DPPH. The two spectra are centered at g = 2.0036 plus or minus 0.0008 and consist of five resolved hyperfine lines, equally spaced 10 G apart, with intensities varying approximately in the ratio of 1: 2: 3: 2: 1. Thus the two spectra are identical with respect to hyperfine structure and g value. (P.C.R.)
