HIGH DOSE FERROUS DOSIMETRY FOR Co$gamma$-RAYS (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Tokyo Metropolitan Isotope Centre Ann. Rept.
OSTI ID:4652409
A simple method of high level Co/sup 60/ gamma -ray dosimetry, was studied, using ferrous ammonium sulfate-sulfuric acid solution, without degassing or nitrogen subsitution. The relationship between the irradiation dose and the ferric ion concentration produced was examined in ihe presence of various concentrations of solutes. The linear relationship thus obtained in the oxygen exhausted region can be extended to higher doses by higher concentration of ferrous ammonium sulfate and sulfuric acid. In a system of 0.5 mole/l ferrous ammonium sulfate in 5N sulfuric acid, the linearity is kept up to 1.2 x 10/sup 7/ r. The oxidation yield of ferrous ion, however, decreases with increasing solute concentration. (auth)
