A device for determining the radioactivity of gas-sols is described, which comprises means for detecting alpha rays and beta rays. Between the radioactive gas-sol and the detectors there are absorbers through which the rays pass before entering one of the detectors. The absorbers are calibrated so that the relation of detected beta to alpha rays for the daughter products of radon is equal to that for the daughter products of thoron.
