NEUTRON TRANSFER IN THE Pb$sup 207$(N$sup 14$,N$sup 13$)Pb$sup 208$ REACTION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4649336
The energy spectrum of the N/sup 13/ reaction products was obtained by the usual procedure for reactions at 132 Mev that left the final nuclei in their ground state. The experimental angular distribution for transfer to the Pb/sup 209/ ground state diverged strongly from the calculations of Breit and Ebel (tunneling) and Greider (quantum-mechanical longrange approximation). Inclusion of nuclear absorption and the presence of a peak at forward angles in the angular distribution are likely explanations for the discrepancy. (D.C.W.)
