DESIGN OF OPENINGS FOR BURIED SHELTERS. Report No. 2-67
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4643631
Design features and structural and mechanical parameters of entrance structures for buried shelters are discussed. Criteria include low-cost protection against blast and associated thermal and nuclear radiation from a 1-MT nuclear weapon. Interactions between shelter entrance and various other shelter systems are considered. Topics discussed in detail include basic design considerations, shelter entrance systems, ventilation systems, effects input data, radiation shielding design parameters, blast design parameters, design procedures, amd illustrative examples.
