STUDIES ON THE PRODUCTION OF SULFUR-35 BY TRIGA MARK II RESEARCH REACTOR. PART I. RADIOCHEMICAL SEPARATION AND DISCUSSION (in Korean)

Journal Article · · J. Nucl. Sci.
OSTI ID:4642405
Using 10 g of hexachlorobenzene for 20 hour continuous irradiation, about 2 approximates 3 mC of S/sup 35/ can be produced by TRIGA Mark II research reactor when it begins operation. A neutron flux of about 0.7 x 10/sup 12/ n cm/sup -2/ sec/sup -1/ at the rotary specimen rack and about 4.0 x 10/sup 12/ n cm/sup -2/ sec/sup -1/ at the central thimble is obtainable. The neutron reaction proposed for the production is Cl/sup 35/(n,p)S/sup 35/. The proposed radiochemical separation gives a chemical yield of 90% in the form of sulfuric acid and a radiochemical purity of 99%. (auth)
