APPLICATION OF ANTIBIOTICS OF THE TETRACYCLINE ORDER IN EXPERIMENTAL RADIATION SICKNESS

Journal Article · · Antibiotiki (U.S.S.R.)
OSTI ID:4639235
Experiments carried out on rats established that antibiotics of the tetracycline order, administered after the exposure of animals to radiation, prolonged the life of the animals. Further experiments established also that there was little quantitative difference between the aerobic flora isolated from the organs of irradiated animals treated with the antibiotics, and the flora isolated from irradiated rats not treated with antibiotics. This indicates that the beneficial effect of the antibiotics is due not only to the antimicrobic action of the drugs, but, apparently, to some other nonspecific protective forces of the organism, which are stimulated.
