The lifetime of the first excited state in Ti/sup 48/ was previously measured by several investigators. Disagreement exists between the various published values of the lifetime. The lifetime was measured again using the resonant selfabsorption method. A 15 mC source of V/sup 48/was prepared by bombarding natural titanium with 13-Mev deuterons for about 15 hr. The width of the state was measured to be (9.47 plus or minus 2.89) x 10/sup -5/ ev, corresponding to a lifetime of (4.92 plus or minus 1.52) x 10/sup -12/ sec. (TTT)
