The lifetimes of the first and second excited states of Ca/sup 42/ were investigated using a slow-fast arrangement of transistorized time-to-pulse height converters. The halflife period of the 1.52-Mev level was found to be (1.1 plus or minus 0.5) x 10/sup -10/ sec. For the 1.84-Mev level a value of (4.2 plus or minus 1.1) x 10/sup -10/ sec was obtained for the half-life period. (M.C.G.)
