The design of a vacuum cleaner, which is suitable for handling radioactively contaminated liquids and solids, is patented. The cleaner contains a separator, such as a cylclone separator, with two outlets, one leading to a liquid-tight bag and the other leading to a bag filter for gas and dust. The liquid-tight bag and the bag fllter are supported within the same atmosphere in a container. The pressure of the atmosphere in the container can be reduced to operate the cleaner. (M.P.G.)
