A pressure vessel especially for nuclear reactors comprises within the vessel a first skirt mounted at its lower extremity on the bottom of the vessel wall and is fixed at its upper extremity to a second skirt coaxially disposed within the first one. A supporting bottom for the reactor core is mounted transversely to the second skirt near its lower extremity. The pressure vessel itself is mounted on a supporting skirt forming an outer extension of said first inner skirt. (RB)
