IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF NUCLEAR REACTORS
In a reactor the core is disposed within the pressure vessel on a support structure transmitting the weight of the core to a cylindrical inner skirt forming an extension within the vessel of an outer skirt supporting both the vessel and the reactor core. The support structure is so shaped that it does not block the fluid circulation between the inlet ducts in the vessel wall to the channel extremities at the bottonm of the core. The support structure comprises a platform in the form of a grid held by a peripheral support ring and a second horizontal support ring with a smaller diameter disposed at a lower level and resting on the support skirt. The grid is further supported by a series of vertically spaced elements each fixed at its lower extremity on the second support ring. (NPO)
